Description: If you didn’t visit the Planetarium, you don’t want to miss this Hubble movie! If you went on the Planetarium field trip in November, you will really enjoy this movie! The pictures of our universe from the Hubble are spectacular. We will begin our space adventure by watching the IMAX movie about NASA’s Hubble Telescope. Learn more about the film at http://www.imax.com/hubble/, including downloadable educational activities under the Education tab.

After the movie we will head outside for a picnic lunch.

Then we will create a scale model of our solar system. We’ll walk around the park and label the items we will use, starting with a large exercise ball to represent the sun. Guess which planet will be represented with a poppy seed?! How far away will it be from the exercise ball sun? Come estimate our solar system and discover how vast its been created.

Finally we’ll learn about the moon and its phases, using my favorite representative item, the Oreo cookie!

What to bring: lunch, camera, comfortable walking shoes, weather appropriate clothes, jacket and hat, water bottle, sunscreen.

Ages: All. The IMAX movie is designed for grades 3-8

Cost: $5.50 per person age 3+. Kids 0-2 are free.

Tour limits: 100 max. We must have at least 60 people for the movie.
