Waste to Energy Facility Tour

West of Spokane across from the Washington State Patrol.  Exit 276 off of I-90.

Cost:  free

Age: Kids in 3rd – 12th grades only.  Please get a babysitter for any younger siblings.      

Description:  Learn aboutWaste Reduction and Packaging, Recycling — The Hows and Whys, General Solid Waste Overview, Deciphering the Plastic Code, and Composting.  There will be a short classroom time with a 15 minute video about the Waste to Energy Facility, a Q&A time plus a tour of the facility including the fire room and the turbine room. 

What to bring: camera, sturdy closed toe shoes, weather appropriate clothes (since part of the tour is outside).

Tour limits: 30 people

Registration: Send an email to ExploringFamilies@gmail.com that includes the number of kids, the number of adults, and your phone number(s) by October 16. If your registration request has been received, then Exploring Families will send an email back to you confirming whether there is space for your family or not. If the tour/trip/event is full, Exploring Families will email back to you to let you know you are on the wait list. If you don’t get an email back from Exploring Families about that tour/trip/event, then assume there has been an email glitch and Exploring Families didn’t get your first tour/trip/event request. Please resend your email or call Kelly Clark at Exploring Families at 509-999-7614. If you don’t get a confirmation back from Exploring Families, please don’t just show up.

What to do the day of the trip:  

Cancellation Policy: Please contact Kelly Clark at Exploring Families (exploringFamilies@gmail.com or 509-999-7614) as soon as you can if you have to cancel. There is usually a waiting list of families wanting to participate. Or we may have to cancel the tour/trip/event if we cannot meet the minimum number of required students.
